Man charged with violating Sex Offender Registry law

Lawrenceburg Now

A local man was arrested last week on charges that he violated the state’s Sex Offender Registry law.

The man, fifty-seven year old Jack Wade Armstrong, listed in department records as being homeless, came to the Lawrenceburg Police Department to complete his regularly scheduled registration. At that point officers learned that his status with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation was listed as an “absconder.” As such, he was to be taken into custody.

Reports indicate that the man had failed to register for the previous six months at the Lawrenceburg Police Department, which is his designated reporting agency. They also show that he failed to register in the county of his secondary address.

Armstrong was arrested and incarcerated at the Lawrence County Detention Center to await a July 6, 2017 court appearance. Bond was set at $10,000.
